Nritya Ganapati or Natya Ganapathi is the 15th among the 32 forms of Lord Ganesha.
Nritya Ganapati literally means the “Happy Dancer”.
Lord Ganesha is one of the most popular Hindu God worshipped in India and all over the world and is believed to be the remover of all obstacles in the lives of his devotees.
In this form of Ganesha, the Lord appears in golden hue complexion in dancing posture on one leg under Kalpavriksha (Wish Fulfill Tree) with four hands.On his main right hand holds the tusk and the upper hand with elephant goad, on the left hand hold a battle-axe and noose. On his fingers with rings and the trunk curled holding his favourite sweet Modaka.
Importance of Nritya Ganapati Form of Ganesha
Magam (Magha) Nakshatra is related to Nritya Ganapati.
It is believed that worshipping this form of the Lord will give proficiency and success to the devotees in fine arts.
It is mainly worshipped by many artists and dancers.
One of the main temples for this form of Ganapati can be seen in Arulmigu Magudeshwarar Temple in Kodumudi, Tamil Nadu.
The temples in Thiruvananthapuram have the paintings of the 32 forms of Lord Ganesha. And the temples in Chamarajanagar and Nanjangud in Mysore have all the 32 forms of Ganesha sculptures.
